Beautiful Skies

I couldn't believe it when I looked outside and saw this giant eagle in the sky!

And another night I spotted this beautiful sunset.

And then lovely streaks across the sky. But I almost missed the moon.

I love how Dawn and I race outside with our phones or cameras when we realize we're missing something beautiful.

Evening Sky

 On a sky/cloud kick

The moon was so bright and it was still daylight!
And, of course, good golly Miss Molly with a piece of straw on her chin.

Note: I found this in my drafts and couldn't let it go to waste! I think it's from December of last year.

Clouds

Photograph by Dawn Walker

I have a childhood memory of looking out the window of an airplane and being in awe of the clouds. We were on our way to Panama (my dad was stationed there in the early 1960s), and I had a very vivid dream of scooping up clouds with both hands and putting them into a bucket so we could make ice cream.

One of Dawn's cloud photos got me to thinking about my 3- or 4-year old self and that dream. I remember not wanting to leave my grandmother and pitchin' a fit. Telling me we were going to make ice cream out of clouds may have been a clever way for one of my older siblings to bribe me onto the plane, who knows?

Funny how I can distinctly remember coming to the realization that it was only a dream. It reminded me of the moment when I discovered my mom had a first name, it wasn't just "Mom."

I have very few of these types of memories, but I'm glad for them, and I would love to hear about yours.
